Momentum Media strengthens real estate portfolio as brands boom

Momentum Media has unveiled a new-look real estate team and strengthened its content offering, further cementing its position as the go-to resource for Australian property insights, information and intelligence.

Jim Hall, director – real estate, said the new-look team will accelerate the content strategy of both REB and Smart Property Investment while delivering enhanced commercial value to stakeholders.

Effective September 2021, Momentum Media’s market-leading brands REB and Smart Property Investment have been reinforced by a number of new journalist appointments and promotions, coupled with enhancements to their content platforms to support better user experiences.

For over a decade REB has been the premier source of news and information for Australia’s real estate agents, principals and property managers.

Smart Property Investment is the much-loved and passionate voice for Australian property investors, delivering key information and market intelligence for investors and home buyers.

Leading the expanded team is executive editor – real estate, Phillip Tarrant, and director – real estate, Jim Hall.

They are joined by deputy editor – real estate Grace Ormsby, journalists Juliet Helmke and Zarah Torrazo, and partnerships managers Thomas Gilmore and Laine Poirier.

Former editor of Smart Property Investment Maja Garaca Djurdjevic has been promoted to Momentum Media’s editor – wealth and takes the helm as content lead across the company’s influential wealth portfolio, including media brands IFA and InvestorDaily.

Industry influencer and auctioneer Tom Panos has also joined the team as head coach and trainer for REB.

In addition to delivering daily online content, the revamped team is responsible for driving Australia’s biggest real estate podcast networks, which include the top-rated Smart Property Investment Show and Secrets of the Top 100 Agents podcast.

As part of its expanded content offering, and to support the sector with up-to-the-minute insights on trends and advancements in technology, these broadcast products have been augmented with the launch of two new shows.

REB’s Proptech Pulse podcast gives context of the emerging force of proptech, how the industry is capitalising, and who is leading the charge.

Real Estate Exposed – a live show presented by Phillip Tarrant and Tom Panos each Thursday across social channels – uncovers and interprets the burning issues impacting the real estate sector.

Momentum also launched in September the REB Top 50 Agents, a state-based ranking that complements the nationwide REB Top 100 Agents and a raft of other benchmark reports for the nation’s real estate industry.

Jim Hall, director – real estate, said the new-look team will accelerate the content strategy of both REB and Smart Property Investment while delivering enhanced commercial value to stakeholders.

“Australia is currently seeing one of the most exciting periods in history for real estate as we start to see COVID-19 restrictions ease across the country,” he said.

“With the spring season now officially here, talk of 20 per cent growth in property prices, and investor financing activity increasing week-by-week, all signs are heading towards a real estate frenzy.

“We couldn’t have picked a better time to double down our own investment in real estate and bring an even greater offering to readers across the REB and Smart Property Investment brands.

“Over the coming months, our expert team will be ramping up our content across all our mediums, delivering more up-to-date news and analysis on everything real estate related, with new podcasts, reports, rankings and more to ensure all readers, listeners and viewers are better informed than ever.”

Grace Ormsby, deputy editor – real estate, echoed Mr Hall’s sentiments, reflecting on the new team’s ability to take the portfolio to new heights.

“COVID-19, and the latest lockdowns, have really hammered home the significance of real estate and property to the Australian psyche, and we're building on our commitment to service and support the real estate sector's evolving needs – from both a business and a consumer perspective,” she said.

“It's an honour to be charged with driving forward the content strategy on REB and Smart Property Investment at such a pivotal point in time, and with our bolstered team we'll be even better placed to deliver news, insights and commentary to our target markets.

“The collective energy, enthusiasm and drive shared by every member of this team makes this role all the more of a privilege.”
