Captivate Code of Conduct

Captivate Code of Conduct

Our Commitment

At Captivate, we are dedicated to creating event experiences where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected — whether you're attending, working, performing, sponsoring, or partnering with us.

We believe in celebrating creativity and community, and that means holding ourselves and others to a high standard of behaviour. We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, bullying, or abuse of power in any form. Anyone participating in our events — from the event planning to the post-event wrap up, and from behind the scenes to the main stage — is expected to contribute to a positive and inclusive environment.

Policy

Unacceptable Behaviour

The following actions are considered violations of this Code of Conduct and may result in immediate removal from an event or further action.

Discrimination

Treating someone unfairly or negatively based on their race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, age, or any other personal characteristic is never acceptable. Everyone deserves to feel included.

Harassment

Any unwanted or offensive conduct — whether verbal, physical, visual, or digital — that makes someone feel intimidated, uncomfortable, or degraded is considered harassment. This includes:

  • Inappropriate comments or jokes
  • Sexual advances or suggestive behaviour
  • Physical contact without consent
  • Threatening or hostile behaviour
  • Repeated unwanted attention

Intent doesn’t override impact — if someone feels harassed, it matters.

Bullying

Bullying may look like persistent criticism, humiliation, exclusion, or spreading harmful rumours. It can happen in person, online, or behind the scenes — and it’s not tolerated at and for any Captivate event.

Misuse of Authority

Any abuse of position — including using influence to manipulate, intimidate, or exploit others — is a breach of this Code. All participants, regardless of role, should be treated with fairness and respect.

Expected Behaviour at a Captivate Event

We ask that everyone involved in planning and delivery at a Captivate event, from staff and crew to guests, partners and collaborators, demonstrate the following values:

  • Show courtesy, kindness, and respect in all interactions
  • Use inclusive, professional language
  • Honour others’ boundaries and personal space
  • Be aware of how your behaviour affects those around you
  • Speak up if something feels unsafe, inappropriate, or wrong
  • Support a culture of accountability and integrity
  • Respect privacy and keep confidential information private
  • Avoid personal conflicts impacting your professional conduct

We also encourage everyone to take ownership of their impact, not just their intent.

How to Report a Concern or Grievance

If you witness or experience any conduct that goes against these standards, please speak up. We take every concern seriously and will ensure it is handled discreetly and fairly.

Reporting Options:

Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

In-person: Speak to a senior team member or on-site event manager

Urgent: Alert security staff or emergency services if safety is at risk at the event

Please include:

  • A clear description of what happened
  • Time, date, and location
  • Names of anyone involved
  • Any supporting details (evidence, witnesses, etc.)

What Happens Next

Once a report is received, Captivate will:

  • Review the information confidentially
  • Conduct an impartial assessment or investigation
  • Take appropriate action, which may include warnings, removal from the event, or further restrictions on participation

We may temporarily restrict a person’s access to the event while an investigation is ongoing, if needed to protect others’ wellbeing.

In Conclusion

At Captivate, we’re not just about producing events, we’re creating spaces for people to connect, express, and belong. That’s only possible when everyone feels safe, valued, and heard.

By participating in a Captivate event, you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and help us build a culture of respect and inclusion.
