Momentum Media launches the inaugural Australian Aviation Awards

Momentum Media is pleased to announce that nominations and submissions have opened for the inaugural 2022 Australian Aviation Awards.

The Australian Aviation Awards is an exciting new nationwide recognition program that showcases the outstanding individuals and businesses positively shaping the growth and development of Australia’s aviation industry.

Alongside principal partner the University of New South Wales and host Australian Aviation, Momentum Media is calling on the aviation industry to submit an entry or nominate a colleague to receive the deserved recognition.

The national awards program is the benchmark for excellence and strives to celebrate the outstanding individuals and businesses that have influenced Australia’s aviation industry.

The gala event – which will be held in-person on Thursday, 25 August 2022 at 7pm at Australian Turf Club, Royal Randwick Racecourse, Sydney – presents an opportunity for leading professionals and their businesses to showcase their achievements, retain and attract the best talent, build their client base, and propel their professional profile.

The black-tie ceremony seeks to reward players across the industry, including aviators, crew, students, academics, mentors, and all professionals in large and small businesses, while recognising talent, innovation, and dedication to driving the aviation industry forward.

It is also an opportunity for the aviation industry to network with their industry peers, friends, and family.

The awards are peer-reviewed and judged by a well-regarded and trusted panel.

Dr Brett Molesworth, head of school, UNSW Aviation 2022, said the School of Aviation is proud to be the leading partner of the inaugural awards.

“These awards are the first national awards to recognise, promote and encourage excellence across the entire aviation industry,” he said.

“Given the challenges that the aviation industry has had to weather for the past few years and looking ahead, we believe the awards will provide a positive synergy to an industry that is vital to our economy, our humanity and our future. We trust that these awards will become the benchmark for excellence, recognising the outstanding achievements and dedication of professionals who are securing the aviation industry for the future.

“UNSW Aviation has always been committed to the high standards essential for the future of aviation. For over 40 years, Australian Aviation Magazine has had a trusting and enduring relationship with the aviation industry. We are honoured to be partnering with them for this event, which will bring people from all sectors of the industry around the country together in a great celebration of aviation.”

“Our industry has just emerged from the toughest period in its history, and its survival is testament to so many people's extraordinary passion and talent,” Australian Aviation editor Adam Thorn said.
“As we start to put COVID behind us, the Australian Aviation Awards will allow us to acknowledge the achievements of our very best, with categories for pilots, executives, academics and engineers as well as those recognising businesses of all sizes.

“I would encourage everyone to enter and know the evening itself will be a long-overdue chance for us to get together in person and celebrate.”
