Appearing in April, Nelson was interviewed by presenter Kirsten Aiken on China’s decision to ban imports of new Boeing aircraft amid the escalating trade war with the United States.
Over the course of a seven-minute interview, Nelson talked about the effect on Boeing itself, particularly amid its recent bad press and supply chain issues; the effect on Chinese aviation and possibility for other airlines to swoop on the planes previously earmarked for the country; possible safety implications; and potential ramifications for Boeing’s main rival Airbus and China’s own planemaker Comac.
“It was odd to be on the other side of the interview table – normally I’m the one asking the questions – but it was great to be able to share what we know with a wider audience,” said Nelson.
“To be approached by the ABC for comment was fantastic, and I hope it opens more doors for Momentum brands to reach more of the general public.”
According to editor Adam Thorn, the ABC appearance capped off a month of wins for Australian Aviation, with the site also breaking several major stories over April.
“This just goes to show how trusted Australian Aviation is as a specialist news source – when a respected outlet like the ABC needs expert commentary on the aviation industry, they come to us,” said Thorn.
“We were the ones who broke the news that ASIC was not pursuing further action against the former directors of Bonza, as well as the news that QantasLink – not Qantas domestic – would be operating from Western Sydney Airport when it opens next year, both testament to our deep knowledge and connections within the industry.
“We’re looking forward to our Australian Aviation Awards on 14 August, which launched the other week, and planning is also underway for our second Australian Aviation Summit later this year.”
