Momentum Media and law brand Lawyers Weekly are pleased to announce that they are accepting submissions from the legal profession for the 30 Under 30 Awards 2023 across 31 categories.

Winning a 30 Under 30 Award or qualifying as a finalist lays the foundation for career progression for legal professionals, with industry-wide recognition for professional competency.

Run with the support of principal partner Taylor Root, the unparalleled 30 Under 30 Awards program is returning for the 11th year to recognise the best and brightest rising stars in the legal profession who are aged 30 and under.

There are 31 individual categories on offer this year for barristers, commercial, family and criminal lawyers, and lawyers working across a range of areas including banking and finance, competition, trade and regulation, insolvency, insurance, migration, taxation, and wills and estates.

Submit an entry or nominate a worthy colleague by Thursday, 9 March 2023 to be in the running.

Finalists will be announced on Wednesday, 12 April 2023, while the winners will be announced at a glamorous black-tie awards ceremony on Friday, 2 June 2023 at The Star in Sydney.

For over a decade, the awards have championed up-and-coming legal professionals and rewarded them for their tremendous efforts from the beginning of their careers and in going above and beyond for their clients.

The gala event will showcase the depth of talent of the nation’s young guns in the legal profession and recognise their efforts to firmly establish themselves in their fledgling careers.

Winning a 30 Under 30 Award or qualifying as a finalist lays the foundation for career progression for legal professionals, with industry-wide recognition for professional competency.

It also highlights a passion and respect for the law and dedication to personal advancement.

Securing a 30 Under 30 Award will allow entrants to stand out in a competitive marketplace and set them apart from their peers, while strengthening their position in the profession, elevating their personal brand, and unlocking new career opportunities.

Judged by a highly-respected panel of influential professionals, a 30 Under 30 Award is a recognition of the capabilities of the rising stars in law and passion for propelling the profession to new heights.

The awards ceremony is an opportunity for the profession to celebrate the successes of, and network with, their peers and leaders in their profession.

Commenting on Taylor Root’s partnership with the awards program and the importance of this kind of recognition for young legal professionals, Taylor Root partner, head of Australia, Hayden Gordine, said: “Taylor Root has been the principal partner of the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards since its inception, and we are immensely proud of our association.

“As a young lawyer, this is the first opportunity to stand out from the crowd, the first opportunity to be recognised as a star practitioner, to show the partners that you are ‘partner potential’, and to show clients that you are objectively better than the rest.”

Mr Gordine continued: “Achieving 30 Under 30 status offers the foundation for career progression. As legal search and recruitment specialists, our consultants at Taylor Root see first-hand the importance and marketability of 30 Under 30 status.

“A nomination will have a dramatically positive impact on your personal branding, market value and it opens many doors. We see the value in an award that sets yourself apart from your peers and it is why Taylor Root continues to be principal partner of the 30 under 30 Awards year after year.”

Lawyers Weekly editor Jerome Doraisamy urged the younger cohort in the profession to throw their hats into the awards ring.

“If you don’t ask, you don’t get. Emerging leaders in our legal profession must put their hands up to have their excellent work recognised and appreciated,” he argued.

“Becoming a finalist, and maybe a winner, of one of our awards is a surefire way to accelerate your career and help you achieve your vocational goals. We look forward to seeing your nominations!”
