Finalists unveiled for Australian Defence Industry Awards 2022

Momentum Media and defence brand Defence Connect are proud to reveal that after careful consideration, 248 finalists have been selected for the fourth annual Australian Defence Industry Awards.

With the defence industry now established as a fundamental input to capability, a Defence Connect Australian Defence Industry Award reaffirms the role of your organisation, or you personally, in advancing the defence industry and capability building.

The 2022 Australian Defence Industry Awards is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 15 September at the National Convention Centre Canberra.

Hosted by Momentum Media, the awards recognise the best and brightest in Australia’s defence industry who have committed to strengthening the nation’s defence ecosystem.

This year, Defence Connect received 428 submissions, out of which 248 finalists have qualified to battle it out for awards across 30 individual and group categories.

This year's awards are supported by KBR as the Australian Defence Industry Awards principal partner.

Organisations shortlisted as finalists include defence innovators such as Saab Australia, Britton Maritime Systems, and Airbus Australia Pacific, manufacturers such as Amiga Engineering, Ryan Aerospace, and Envirofluid, and prime contractors such as EOS Defence Systems, Luerssen Australia, and BAE Systems Australia.

Individual finalists include representatives from organisations such as Boeing Defence Australia, Nova Systems, Biodiversity Australia, as well as academic institutions such as the University of Canberra, Queensland University of Technology, and University of Sydney.

At the end of the awards ceremony, the highest-scoring award winner from the individual award categories will be selected as the recipient of the prestigious Excellence Award.

The awards program celebrates all defence industry stakeholders, including primes, small-to-medium enterprises (SME), academic institutions, associations, as well as high-performing individuals such as defence executives, indigenous and female leaders, students, scientists, technicians, and academics.

The awards were open to all businesses operating in Australia supporting the defence supply chain and have become a coveted accolade for organisations and professionals seeking to forge their role in the Australian defence industry.

“Congratulations to all those finalists who have been recognised for their tireless efforts in building a stronger and more innovative defence industry,” Liam Garman, editor for defence and security at Momentum Media, said.

“I look forward to seeing you all and toasting your amazing successes!”

Defence Connect would like to thank all of its partners for their invaluable support including principal partner KBR, platinum partners Airbus and Lockheed Martin Australia, gold partners Investment NSW, BGIS, L3 Harris, and Penten, gold and dessert partner Indigenous Defence & Infrastructure Consortium, dessert partner Willyama Services, supporting partner Precision Public Affairs, and charity partners Invictus Australia and Legacy.
