With the launch of the government’s Defence Strategic Review, the Budget Lunch will offer an opportunity to engage directly with key decision makers and stakeholders charged with delivering the capabilities and programs that are critical to shaping Australia’s national security.

Attendees will receive vital market intelligence at this year’s Budget Lunch to help shape their business strategy and make more informed decisions.

Moderated by veteran journalist Stan Grant, speakers from both sides of politics will participate once again this year.

These include Minister for Defence Industry and Minister for International Development and the Pacific Pat Conroy, and Shadow Minister for Defence Industry and Defence Personnel Luke Howarth.

Mr Conroy will provide a keynote address about the government’s plans for defence and the defence industry, while Mr Howarth will detail the opposition’s plans for defence and the industry.

Following this, Mr Howarth and Mr Grant will have an interactive discussion about the critical issues facing the industry.

Mr Grant will begin the lunch by unpacking the current state of defence from a global perspective and what it means for Australia and the Indo-Pacific.

He will then analyse the federal budget handed down a few days prior to the lunch and its implications for the defence industry, and provide the latest in election news.

After this, Mr Grant and a panel of speakers will discuss the impact of the federal budget and the Defence Strategic Review on the industry, and provide recommendations on where the government should allocate funding in the future to support the industry.

The panellists will also examine the current state of the industry, the impact of the federal budget on the sector, and the industry’s wish list for future budgets.

The speakers will address the critical needs of the sector and explore how the government could help the industry grow and compete in the global market.

Throughout the day, attendees can network with leading defence industry professionals and key stakeholders and have their pressing questions answered.

“With the release of the Defence Strategic Review on the horizon, the Defence Connect Budget Lunch will give attendees an opportunity to hear first-hand how the DSR and federal budget will impact the industry,” Liam Garman, editor of Defence Connect said.

“This is a must-attend event for businesses looking to navigate the industry amid potentially wide-reaching changes to Defence priorities.”
