Accountants Daily Strategy Day 2022 to re-imagine accounting

The Accountants Daily Strategy Day is returning this year with jam-packed sessions that focus on innovation, regulation, and business strategy to re-shape firm structures and future-proof accounting businesses.

9rok Consulting founder and 3Genesis co-founder Kim Payne and Matias Group founder Luke Matias will be speaking at Accountants Daily Strategy Day 2022.

The one-day conference – which will be hosted by Momentum Media and accounting brand Accountants Daily – will be held on Tuesday, 29 November in Melbourne and Thursday, 1 December in Sydney.

It has been reinvented to arm accountants with the tools, tips, and strategies they need to better support their clients and thrive in an environment that is teeming with innovation and regulatory changes.

By attending the Accountants Daily Strategy Day 2022, accountants will gain insights into key census data so they can prepare for the significant and imminent intergenerational wealth transfer as generational shifts are set to further challenge the tax landscape of the future. Accountants will learn how to engage the self-directed generation that are now contributing and influencing our society.

Furthermore, as businesses face more uncertainty than ever amid supply chain disruption, high inflation, rising interest rates, and labour shortages, accountants will walk away with strategies to help their small-to-medium enterprise (SME) clients weather the storm.

The conference would not be complete without an essential update from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) around the top financial issues on their radar this financial year, and a breakdown of key projects, the development pipeline, and what outcomes practitioners could expect.

The event will also provide an overview of tools available to business owners such as turnaround plans, safe harbour, small business restructuring, and voluntary administration.

Moreover, with the growing threat of cybersecurity risks, the conference will equip accountants with the essential strategies for SMEs to mitigate risk, with a unique lens on accounting processes and operations.

As Australia transitions to a more digital future, accountants can learn how to manage the growing risk of cyber penetration as speakers investigate recent phishing and ransomware operations and the benefits of e-invoicing.

In addition, the conference will unpack the challenges accountants and their businesses could face in the next few years (including a shift in client demographics, accountancy business models, and the impact of new technologies such as automation, crypto/digital assets, and artificial intelligence).

Accountants will learn how to turn technologies like cloud-accounting platforms, automation and artificial intelligence from friends to foes and augment each client’s experience.

Alongside this, accountants will be treated to a session on the benefits of multidisciplinary service offerings and firm structure that could protect them during the great resignation, along with different models used when building a multidisciplinary firm, case studies of firms that have done this successfully, and common mistakes to avoid to achieve business goals.

The Accountants Daily Strategy Day will also delve into cryptocurrencies and the digital asset revolution, and answer the burning questions around tax and trading.

Accountants will also gain valuable insights into how they could de-risk their SME clients’ businesses with a s100A plan, and gain practical insights into the changing tax rulings so they can mitigate risk and guide their clients to success.

The conference has networking opportunities and is geared towards growth-focused accountants, auditors, bookkeepers, practice principals, key business decision-makers, strategic thinkers in accounting practices, product manufacturers, and business development managers seeking insights on the future of the accounting industry.

Speakers include director of advisory at McCrindle Research Ashley Fell, BDO Australia partner, business restructuring Jeff Marsden, John Jeffreys Tax director John Jeffreys, Matias Group founder Luke Matias, 9rok Consulting founder and 3Genesis co-founder Kim Payne, and Elixir Consulting consultant Graham Burnard.

“We’ve put together a terrific line-up of speakers for the 2022 Accountants Daily Strategy Day and the content goes right to the core of issues facing the profession,” Accountants Daily editor Philip King said.

“There’s a real appetite for face-to-face sessions and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone at the Melbourne and Sydney events.”

The 2022 Accountants Daily Strategy Day takes place on Tuesday, 29 November at Grand Hyatt in Melbourne and Thursday, 1 December at Parkroyal Parramatta in Sydney.
