Defence Connect marked a major milestone last month, surpassing 52,000 web sessions across its digital defence industry platform.
The rapid growth of the site reflects the evolution of the Australian defence industry, as expanding opportunities for primes and SMEs in defence procurement have sparked a greater demand for market intelligence.
The Defence Connect platform was acquired in September 2016 as part of a strategy to deepen Momentum Media’s footprint in evolving markets.
Upon acquisition, Defence Connect set out to deliver breaking news to the industry as well as meeting the needs of a rapidly rising digital audience for analysis, insight and opinion across multiple interconnected mediums.
As well as building a strong following within government, ministerial, CASG and the Department of Defence, the brand connects with the industry at all levels of academia and policy think tanks.
According to Defence Connect director Phillip Tarrant, the site’s growth is in line with a resurgent defence industry that now depends on analysis of core developments as they unfold.
“With defence industry now a fundamental input to capability, complemented by a passionate cadre of businesses seeking to support Australian defence building capability, the future for the industry is a bright one,” he said.
“We’re committed to supporting the growth of Australia’s defence industry by delivering up to the minute news and analysis as developments unfold.”
Tarrant said that the integration of podcasts, social and strong daily digital newsletter distribution also accounted for the significant growth in traffic to the audited website.
“The timing has been perfect for Defence Connect to engage with all facets of the defence industry. Our editorial team has had outstanding support, which has enabled Defence Connect to quickly take the position of the preferred source of information, analysis, intelligence and interpretation of key events.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to develop our offering to our audience,” Tarrant said.
